What is Needed for Renewal
Renewal of MahaRERA registration is not automatic — it requires active steps from the agent:
Pass the competency exam again — the IBPS exam must be cleared for renewal. Paying the fee alone is not sufficient.
Submit updated documents — all documents required for fresh registration must be updated and resubmitted.
Pay renewal fee — ₹10,000 for individuals, ₹1,00,000 for companies and firms.
Apply 60 days before expiry — Rule 13(1) requires the application to be submitted at least 60 days before the current registration expires.
The renewal rules are tested in the MahaRERA IBPS certification exam. Questions focus on the validity period, renewal deadline, fees, and penalties for facilitating transactions after registration lapses.
Renewal Rules are Exam Topics
Rule 12(4), Rule 13(1), validity periods, and Section 62 penalties are all tested in the MahaRERA IBPS exam. Practise now.
Under Rule 12(4), registration is valid for 5 years from the date of registration. After 5 years, renewal is required to continue legally facilitating transactions.
How early must I apply for renewal?
Rule 13(1) requires the renewal application to be submitted at least 60 days before your current registration expires.
Do I need to pass the exam again for renewal?
Yes. Renewal requires passing the MahaRERA competency exam (conducted by IBPS) again. Paying the renewal fee without passing the exam is not valid.
What is the renewal fee?
₹10,000 for individual agents and sole proprietors. ₹1,00,000 for companies, firms, and LLPs.
What if my registration lapses?
A lapsed registration means you cannot legally facilitate any property transactions. The penalty under Section 62 is ₹10,000 per day up to 5% of the property cost involved.
